UNSYMPATHETIC - OUT NOVEMBER 13th - PRE-SAVE

Oooooh I’ve been so excited to anounce this one. Unsympathetic was the first song I wrote with a band in mind, so it’s a little different from my other tracks. We recorded this alongside Merry-Go-Round in Polestar Studios with Alex Blamire and Paul Gregory, and I can’t wait to share how it sounds (spoiler: huge).

If you’ve got that one friend who keeps asking for advice just to ignore it and do the same stupid thing again - this ones for you.

To pre-save the track, follow this link - in theory it is supposed to help the track do better on day one which should give it the best chances in the hands of the streaming algorithm gods… but who knows how that really works…

LOOKING BACK:

A music video featuring Heaton locals? 800 years of North Shields?? the Mercury Prize in Newcastle for the first time!? God, I love the North East.

November kicked off with the I Love North Shields Live event, in North Shields… obviously. The line up was full of lovely local talent and it was a great day for trying out new material to new ears and catching up with friends in the area. We love I Love North Shields, they’ve been supporting me for a while now and everyone involved are simply lovely.

Let’s talk about the Mercury Prize Finge Fan Show - possibly the most geordie gig I’ve done - hosted in the Fenwicks building at the Greggs pub celebrating an award show won by Sam Fender. A slightly surreal, and totally overwhelming, event to be involved in, all artists were asked to play a cover from a Mercury Nominated album - we went with personal favourite, Jacob Alon’s Don’t Fall Asleep. My Nanna told me I should have come second (don’t think she quite understood that I wasn’t up for a nomination… and that the actual mercury prize wasn’t being held in the Fenwicks pub hahah). Love that despite thinking her grandaughter was in the show, she was still backing Sam!

Speaking of Fender’s, I was back in North Shields for the release of the documentary 'Here We Are’ celebrating 800 years of the town. I’m so incredibly grateful to Liam for including me in the documentary and pulling me up to sing his gorgeous song Cover Up with him at the Exchange (what an incredible venue). This whole event totally reinforced my love for North Shields and how many coastal locals I have to thank for where I am.

Bonus: The Better Person music video was also released at the start of the month on the song’s anniversary (fitting), so give it a watch if you haven’t already.
